Dear unknown user,

Plato was the first to relate each of the four elements to a specific so-called Platonic solid (Timaeus 54-55). Then he adds (in Desmond Lee's translation): 'There still remained a fifth construction, which the gods used for embroidering the constellations on the whole heaven.' Plato does not specify this one, but it seems clear that he knew there were precisely five such solids, and which they were. Later commentators have added the precise details. --Fabullus (talk) 06:53, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Incorrect?: See Empedocles. John McKay 130.54.16.90 (talk) 08:59, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Can you provide a reference for your claim? Preferably a direct quote from Empedocles, or else an attribution by someone ancient enough to have read Empedocles for himself. I'd be interested to see that. By the way, you should open an account of your own. --Fabullus (talk) 14:22, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
