The 12th Regiment Maine Volunteer Infantry was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

12th Maine was organized at Portland, Maine and mustered into Federal service for a three year enlistment on November 16, 1862.

The regiment was discharged from service on April 18, 1866.

The regiment lost 3 officers and 49 enlisted men killed in action or died of wounds. 2 officers and 237 died of disease for a total of 291 fatalities from all causes.^[1]
