ANIMALS DURING THE FIRST WORLD WAR
An officer of 444 Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery (RGA), smokes a pipe as he supervises a kitten balancing on a 12 inch gun shell near Arras.
Comment : 444 Siege Battery operated 2 12 inch Mk V railway howitzers at the time. The officer is standing on the crew platform behind the breech.
