The film explores dark adolescent issues through the minds of three friends and their reactions after a boy (played by Conor Donovan) dies in a tree house set on fire by local bullies.
The boy's twin brother (also played by Donovan) decides to seek revenge, while an overweight survivor of the fire (played by Jesse Camacho) loses his sense of taste and smell, leaving him to force his obese mother to lose weight. Meanwhile, the boys' female friend (played by Zoe Weizenbaum) tries to seduce a grief-stricken patient of her therapist mother (played by Annabella Sciorra).
