Twelve Bar Blues is the debut solo album from Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland. Released in 1998 on Atlantic Records, the album was a commercial failure, but achieved some critical acclaim. The design concept of the cover is a homage to the cover design of John Coltrane's Blue Train album.

  • An additional track entitled, "Lazy Divey" was recorded shortly after the album's release.
  • In an interview in 1998 on MTV's 120 Minutes, Scott states that his then brother-in-law introduced him to Blair Lamb, who later produced 12 Bar Blues.[1]
  • Michael Weiland, Scott's brother, performed percussions on many of the tracks.
  • "Lady, Your Roof Brings Me Down" features the stylistic guest-accordion work of Sheryl Crow.
  • "Mockingbird Girl", was a re-recording of a song Weiland had originally recorded with The Magnificent Bastards for the Tank Girl soundtrack three years prior.
  • The title name comes from the simple progression known as "12 bar blues."
  • The music video to "Barbarella" used themes from the David Bowie film The Man Who Fell to Earth.[2]
