[edit] Kathleen Battle
You are simply whitewashing this. You have taken my structure, and my positive comments, kept both, and removed the negative facts -- widely known -- to produce a write-up that is just a whitewash. Even my contribution of the New Year's Day concert, on which she sang for 9 minutes, has been left in with the 9-minute qualifier removed, leading to a distorted picture for Wikipedia readers. You have turned the 2-prong conductor point, a true and quite neutral fact in her ascendancy, as Battle herself would tell you, into a generic puffed-up laundry list of big names, none of whom was as vital as the two first mentioned. You have misspelled one of the names. You have used the wrong tense. Finally, you have removed another contributor's external link that documented Battle's firing at the Met. Are you her publicist?
- PLEASE CHECK THE DISCUSSION PAGE BEFORE MAKING ANY MORE EDITS TO THE KATHLEEN BATTLE ENTRY. You are not the "owner" of this item, although it appears to be the only page on wikipedia that you have edited. NickInBigD (Hey!) 18:14, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- I HAVE ASKED FOR THE ASSISTANCE OF AND ADMIN IN THE BIO PROJECT. [[1]] In the interest of putting a halt to an "edit war" I would appreciate your not reverting yet again my edits. You are, of course, welcome to weigh in with any additional views on the Kathleen Battle discussion page. Thanks very much. NickInBigD (Hey!) 22:34, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- I AGREE THAT WE SHOULD BRING IN BIO PROJECT ADMIN. I too would appreciate you not reverting my edits. I added information and you took it away. I did not remove the negative information about Kathleen Battle, I only added information which was supported by both Volpe's book and an interview with Gelb and other interviews. Why you would want to surpress the other perspective is not clear to me, other than you don't agree with it. Again, I have not removed your information. I am merely adding and trying to edit for NPOV, which means both sides should get equal weight...not just the side we agree with. Thanks for your understanding.
- For some reason, you have ignored my request that you cease reverting edits. You have also re-added the same language about people viewing Ms. Battle as "gracious," etc. even though they article you purport to cite has no reference to such a phrase. I've reverted these edits yet again. NickInBigD (Hey!) 14:47, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I don't know what you mean by "purport to cite." But I cited two articles. The first, the Bermuda review, states, "Indeed, so well received that this gracious and generous artist returned again and again to perform more of the same..."; in the second article, published by the Cleveland Institute of Music, it says, quoting Portsmouth Mayor Franklin Gerlach, "(She) is entirely gracious and in control." I get it. You don't think she's gracious. But others do. 129.74.18.183 23:17, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
