User talk:129.42.208.182

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome, IBM Wikipedian!

This IP address is an Internet gateway for IBM. If you've been directed to this page by a vandalism warning, it is not because you are personally engaging in vandalism. It's just because you're trying to make an update from inside IBM, and you're not logged into Wikipedia. Unfortunately, a few people here make mistakes or deliberate mischief in editing Wikipedia, and the only way for Wikipedia to block one mischievous person here is to block us all.

If you already have a Wikipedia account, all you need to do is log in and then you can make the update you want.

If you don't have a Wikipedia account, you'll need to create one before you can make any updates from within IBM.

Attention:

This IP address, 129.42.208.182, is registered to IBM, and may be shared by multiple users. If the organization uses proxy servers or firewalls, this IP address may in fact represent many users at many physical computers.

For this reason, a message intended for one person may be received by another and a block may be shared by many. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. In some cases, you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to fight vandalism; if so, please see here.

If you are autoblocked repeatedly, we encourage you to contact your Internet service provider or IT department and ask them to contact Wikimedia's XFF project about enabling X-Forwarded-For HTTP headers on their proxy servers so that our editing blocks will affect only the intended user. Alternatively, you can list the IP at Wikipedia:WikiProject on XFFs.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider using a soft block with the template {{anonblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.

Note: In the event of vandalism from this address, abuse reports may be sent to your network administrator for further investigation.
IT staff who want to monitor vandalism from this IP address can subscribe to a web feed of this page in either RSS or Atom format.

[edit] Storage Resource Manager first drafts

Hi! I saw that you had created the page Storage Resource Manager with the edit summary "first draft". The thing is, we don't usually put drafts up as articles, all articles should be, in a sense, complete articles. They don't have to be long, they don't have to be finished (no wikipedia article are), but they do have to be an article. What I recommend is that you get a user name and write the article in your so-called user-space, like at User:Yourusername/Storage Resource Manager draft, where Yourusername is replaced with your username. However, you are new and we are certainly very happy for your contribution, so why dont you ignore the rules this time, and write the way you want to do it :P. I would just ask you to not keep it like this for more than a day or so. Is that acceptable? If you wish to ask something (anything) feel free to do so at my talk page (press the plus at the top of the page). Cheers, and good luck! gkhan 08:23, July 29, 2005 (UTC)

Ok, thanks i will take it into account! :-)

[edit] Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions.

Currently, you are editing without a username. You can continue to do so as you are not required to log in to Wikipedia to read and write articles, however, logging in will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address (yours is 129.42.208.182). Logging in does not require any personal details. There are many other benefits for logging in to Wikipedia.

Please note these points:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view to edit the article; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do that.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as: copyrighted texts, advertisement messages, and texts that are not related to that article. Both adding such unreasonable information and editing articles maliciously are considered vandalism. A user who repeatedly vandalises articles will be blocked from editing.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, ask me on my Talk page – I will answer your questions as far as I can! Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia.

[edit] copyright notice on Western Ganga Dynasty

the content in the western ganga dynasty article appears to have been copied verbatim from Arthikaje's History of Karnataka at [1], which appears to be protected by a copyright notice at the bottom of that page. this means that the wiki article is likely to be a copyright infringement. unless permission is obtained from the original copyright holder, such material cannot be included in wikipedia. please see the Contributors rights and obligations section in wikipedia copyrights page and Wikipedia: Copyright FAQ for more information.

the copyright tag cannot (and should not) be removed unless it is demonstrated that the material in it is not copyrighted or a suitable license for its use in wikipedia is shown.

u may wish to read other wikipedia:policies and guidelines, take the opinion of experienced wikipedians or use the wikipedia:helpdesk for clarifications. i notice that u have made edits to a number of karnataka history articles. if any of those involve use of material from sources like the above, it may be convenient to deal with all such articles together.

the welcome message above has links to a number of pages which are worth reading up, to get a better idea of how to contribute to wikipedia. Doldrums 10:56, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] St. Paul's United Church (Carp)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article St. Paul's United Church (Carp), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. You have been blocked for vandalism for another week. To contest this block, add the text {{unblock|your reason here}} on this page, replacing your reason here with an explanation of why you believe this block to be unjustified. This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "This is a large IBM corporate gateway with many thousands of users. Blocking this IP effectively prevents most IBM employees from contributing, which is a significant loss of knowledge for wikipedia"

Decline reason: "Sorry. In order to keep our articles useful, we often have to block IP addresses to prevent vandalism. If you would like to make constructive contributions, I would encourage you to create an account at home and then log in to edit. — Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:46, 15 April 2008 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.
