From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Would request you to let me know which of the links that i have added is a personal websites, site with which am affiliated, and is intended to promote a product. Thankyou —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.22.241.130 (talk)

The links you added promote the website ecologyfund.com. You'll notice there is a full stop after nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. The list of types of websites that are inappropriate is (as it says) not comprehensive. The external links guidelines are clear that external links should contain encyclopedic information. If you wish to edit Wikipedia please ensure you are working towards our mission of building a great GFDL encyclopedia. And not merely trying to steer Wikipedia readers to another website. --Siobhan Hansa 13:33, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] =

1. The website ecologyfund.com devote the resources they generate to a philanthropic cause. It is not a for-profit organisation. 2. Regarding the website being an encycopedia - In its niche area, that website indeed have a lot of resources related to the area it operates, as you can find by yourself if you visit the website. 3. While putting that link indeed has an objective of garnering the attention of Wikipedia reader, that is not the end of it. The objective of putting that link is to let the Wikipedia reader know that there is a website which is giving an opportunity for even a lay-man to be part of creating a better world. And inviting the common man to be part of this cause which do not require them to pay any financial resources. Hence we need to move ourselves away from the marketing definition that the word "promotion" is usually associated with. 4. By the way, i have no commercial affiliations to this website/organisation, neither have i communicated with any of the people behind the website/organisation. 5. Hence i request you to re-assess your decision. Thanks and Regards. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 125.22.241.130 (talk) 02:30, 8 December 2006 (UTC).

[edit] SPAM once again please STOP

I have noticed you've already been warned about SPAM, and now you have re-added SPAM that I deleted yesterday to spirituality. Therefore:

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. PelleSmith 11:33, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

The link which i have added is relevant to the section on Spirituality. THe link comes under the heading 'Contemporary Spiritual Figures'. You are invited to go through the weblink and the section for further reference. I have noticed that the particular link which i have added has been removed quite a number of times earlier too... If you have any personal reasons for removing that link, you can express it clearly. Otherwise please discuss on why you have removed that link on the discussions page. Giving warnings is an interesting phenomena, but please abide by the rules yourself first, and understand why those rules has been made in the first place. The links that i have added DO NOT constitute SPAM. I think it is time that Wikipedia block people like you from editing the pages. I will soon be putting back that link again. Please discuss on why that link should not be put back.

Any BTW, please do not bring in unnecessary arguements like search engine rankings. You may be interested in those arguements because your mind thinks that way. Cheers

I have replied to your post at Talk:Spirituality. Cheers.PelleSmith 13:14, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
BTW the reason why other editors may think you are SPAMing links is because your entire edit history consists of adding links to a handful of related websites. Think about that. If you also edit under another account then you shouldn't use this IP to add links only. It just makes you look like a SPAMmer even if that isn't your intention.PelleSmith 14:47, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
