I would like to become involved with improving the piece on PTSD particularly as it may well be the starting point for study by university students - but at this stage I am almost computer/Wikipedia illiterate! PTSD is indeed a hotly disputed diagnosis and one of the areas of this dispute is the relative importance of biological, psychological and sociological issues in understanding the causes, course and management/treatment of the condition. Sheer weight of numbers favours the psychosocial perspective which is reflected at least in the introduction here in Wikipedia. There are of course other reasons, particularly I think in the UK, but I would like to see the balance addressed here. PTSD is a medical diagnosis and like many medical diagnoses its equivalent is well recognised in animals - perhaps more clearly than any other psychiatic diagnosis. Incidently Traumatic Stress is not a medical diagnosis and I have posted an edit/stub but have not manage yet to post a suggestion that the current 'stub' is deleted.
