Because that's not how we write lead sentences. Denzel Washington's opening sentence should not say he's an African-American actor. Hulk Hogan's should not say he's a Caucasian wrestler. The information appears elsewhere the article. Thanks for asking. Doczilla (talk) 06:34, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Because that's a defining characteristic for which bin Laden is widely recognized. Calling someone an intellectual terrorist violates WP:NPOV and several other policies. Doczilla (talk) 06:43, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Notice that it does not say he's a Muslim terrorist. "Islamic" is not there to say he's Muslim. "Islamic terrorist" is there to refer to his pro-Islam terrorism. He has said he was behind 9/11, and he has promoted using violence to instill terror. By any definition, he's a terrorist. Doczilla (talk) 06:51, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
"Widely recognized". I've never heard of the Jewish writer you're talking about. Most people have not. Everybody has heard of bin Laden. Doczilla (talk) 06:52, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Suggestion

I ask you to please not edit that biography until you have read some of the rules we follow here. Here are the relevant rules: Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies)#Opening paragraph, which says "3b. Ethnicity should generally not be emphasized in the opening unless it is relevant to the subject's notability." If you are uncertain what "notability" means, here is the definition we use. So unless you can find several reliable sources directly linking his notability with his ethnicity, we can't put it in the lead paragraph.

Please do read the relevant sections if you intend to continue editing. Thanks.
