The 10th Michigan Cavalry was organized at Grand Rapids, Michigan between September 18 and November 23, 1863.
The regiment was mustered out of service on November 11, 1865.

The regiment suffered 2 officers and 29 enlistedmen killed in action or mortally wounded and 240 enlisted men who died of disease, for a total of 271 fatalities.[1]
