[edit] Re:Russia-geo-stubs
Sdrastvuiye! Don't worry too much about places being on the list of Russian geo-stubs. The only reason for that list existing is that the stub-sorting project is debating whether there are enough stubs for it to be split by region. If the split goes ahead, then any articles that are found to be longer than stub length will have the template removed anyway. As for not understanding what it meant as "not a native speaker", vui govoritye po-Angliskii khorosho - ya govoryu po-Russkii ochen plokho :) Grutness...wha? 23:07, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm responsible for that list on the Grutness's subpage. It's static and doesn't reflect new changes to the articles. Thank you for improving the the stubs! Conscious 05:52, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Russian cities/towns infoboxes
Hi there! Thanks much for you work on adding the infoboxes to the articles on Russian cities; it is very much appreciated. I just have a few questions/suggestions about the process.
- Where do the numbers on the city area/water/elevation come from?
- Would you please add another (i.e., additional) line for Census population figures? Estimates are good, especially when they are more recent than 2002, but Census figures allow ranking cities by population in reference to a single event.
- Is there a point to list the time zone? It matches that of the federal subject the city is located in anyway.
- A link to a municipal website in the infobox would be quite convenient.
- Same goes for foundation date, date when the city status was granted, and any previous names the city had.
These are all, of course, suggestions, not something that needs to be done immediately. Still, they would be very good to have. See you around!—Ëzhiki (ërinacëus amurënsis) 14:32, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, I didn't realize that you were using the standard template. I guess it would be the best to develop a whole new one ({RussianCityTown} or something of the sort), and expand it with the fields we need. I don't think anybody would object to that, as long as we keep that template to Russian locations. That should take care of most of the points I raised. Such a template is actually on my to-do list, but only after the Russian federal subjects WikiProject is completed, and that one is not going anywhere at this time. Still, let me know if you need help; I'll be around.—Ëzhiki (ërinacëus amurënsis) 15:51, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
15:46, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- That'll (probably) work, but it needs to eventually be mentioned in the References section.—Ëzhiki (ërinacëus amurënsis) 15:51, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cats
[edit] Tomsk
MaxiMaxiMax 12:43, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Перевод
"To pick up on smth." = "to grasp, to understand smth.", т.е.
Что касается "to pick up on", то это довольно разговорное выражение.
[edit] Dostoevsky in exile

[edit] History of Siberia
Wow, that's quite an expansion! I will make a point to review it when I have a bit more time. Is that factual accuracy you are concerned about, or did you just want me to proofread it? Thanks; great job!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 12:33, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Also, would you happen to have a better map for Siberia? Currently, it only shows Russia, and Siberia spans as far south as northern Kazakhstan, which is not shown in this map. Thanks again.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 16:09, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
OK, I'll proofread it, although probably not today. As for the map, I meant an overview map such as the one we already have, only one that would include all Siberia, not just its Russian portion.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 17:04, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stalinist architecture
Hello, I don't dispute that the building could have been built during Stalin's period. After having written Russian architecture and most of Baroque architecture, among many other architecture-related articles, I may tell you that the building by no means *typifies* Stalinist architecture. We have better samples in Yaroslavl where I live, yet I don't try to push them all over WP. Neither do Germans with Karl-Marx-Allee, Ukrainians with Kreshchatik or Poles with Warsaw Palace of Culture and Science. If we all started to flood Stalinist architecture with local examples, it would have become an enormous image gallery. Please believe me that the Leningradsky Prospekt picture much better represents Neo-Renaissance flourishes of the Stalinist style. --Ghirla -трёп- 12:50, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Krasnoyarsk
Hello, I noticed that you'd been quite involved in the creation of the Krasnoyarsk article. I just wanted to let you know that I added an image of a locomotive from the train station. I tried to make it fit well into the article - feel free to move it around as you see fit! InvictaHOG 22:41, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Sibiryaks/Sybiraks
Yes, in Polish this term (Sybirak) has a more specific meaning and refers to the people exiled to Siberia. The term for the native of Syberia would be Syberianin.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk 21:43, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
