ǁAni language

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ǁAni or ǀAnda is a Khoisan language of Botswana with about 1,000 speakers. It is a member of the Kxoe dialect continuum.

ǁAni is one of a few languages with uvular clicks.

The double pipe at the beginning of the name "ǁAni" represents a click consonant. A click is a sound made with the tongue something like the sharp "popping" or "cracking" noise sometimes made by English-speakers riding a horse to urge the horse to speed up.
