- Żegota is a Polish male name of Slavic origin; its Christian counterpart is the name of Ignatius
- Żegota was a Polish World War II resistance organization founded by the Armia Krajowa to help the Jews during the Holocaust
- Żegota was also a nom de guerre of two Polish 20th century generals: Marian Żegota-Januszajtis and Tadeusz Kurcyusz
- Zegota (band) is also a hardcore punk band
- Żegota is the name of a character in Adam Mickiewicz's classic work "Dziady" [Forefathers Eve], Part III, Act 1, an innocent young student who was arrested for no reason he could understand.
