[edit] History

The first recorded mentioning of Żabno dates back to the 12th century, when Prince Bolesław V the Chaste granted the settlement to a knight known as Świętosławowi. Because of its location Żabno became a centre of communication and trade. The town gained its first charter in 1487 and the tradition of this still remains today. By the 15th century there were two churches, the Holy Spirit and the Holy Cross. The town has been destroyed numerous times, in 1501 it was burned by the Tatars, and in 1655 by the Swedish. In 1799 a fire burned down almost all of the city. The first Industrial Facility in Żabno was a brick making factory which opened in 1905.
