Šoporňa

Šoporňa is a village and municipality in Galanta District of the Trnava Region of south-west Slovakia.

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1251, it was called SUPURNI. The name is changed in 1411 into SOPORNY and later 1420 into SOPORNOK. In the end of 18th century it is the town of 295 houses and almost 2000 inhabitants. The beginning of the administrative work of the town and its autonomy is from 17th century with own seal.

The municipality lies at an elevation of 129 metres and covers an area of 31.394 km². It has a population of about 4149 people.

The chapel was build in 1750. To this date is after reconstruction.
