Why does the article mention the "German name" of the city? The "German name" resulted in the German occupants' and partitioners' inability to pronounce the ś consonant which does not exist in the German language; it has no meaning in German. Mentioning this name in the very first line of this short article may be regarded, however, as an insult to the citizens of the city who suffered under German occupation. It should be removed.

[edit] More German history

I was raised in the city myself and I speak fluent German, but seeing the "German name" in the very first line of this short article was a really shocking experience. If there is a need to elaborate on the city's German history, the following facts should be added in the first place: On September 17, 1939, the German Gestapo tortured and then murdered 21 Poles on the nearby Kijewo meadows. On October 20, 1939, the Germans shot dead 29 Poles on the central market place.
