Ōtsuka (大塚, Otsuka?, large mound) (pronounced /ˌoʊˈtsuːkʌ/) is a Japanese surname. Its verbatim romanization, although rarely used, is "Ootsuka" because the long "o" (大, meaning big or large) is spelled o-o (おお) in Japanese. However, to eliminate confusion as to whether or not "Ootsuka" is pronounced as /ˌuːˈtsuːkʌ/ or /ˌoʊˈtsuːkʌ/, when romanized Otsuka, it is considered correct. Ohtsuka is also another valid romanization. Ōtsuka has several meanings as a proper noun:
