Ōtomo no Koshibi was the father of the first man to hold the title of Sei-i Tai-shogun, Ōtomo no Otomaro (Jp. 大伴弟麻呂 or 大伴乙麻呂). His son was a general of the Nara period and of the early Heian period. It is believed that his son was born in 727.
