Ōma, Aomori

Ōma (大間町; -machi) is a town located in Shimokita District, Aomori, Japan. It is the site of the northern-most point on Honshū, the largest island of Japan. Separated from the island of Hokkaidō by the Tsugaru Strait, they are 17.5 km apart.
As of February 1, 2008, the town has an estimated population of 6,058 and a density of 116 persons per km². The total area is 52.06 km².
The town is also a candidate for a nuclear plant, the Ōma Nuclear Power Plant, which will be unique in its use of MOX fuel.
