Ōizumigakuenchō
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ōizumigakuenchō (大泉学園町 Ōizumi-gakuen-chō?) is a district of Nerima, Tokyo, Japan. It is located around 1.5 kilometer north of Ōizumi-gakuen Station of Seibu Railway Seibu Ikebukuro Line and consists of nine chōme's. Its postal code is 178-0061.
The district is colloquially simply called Ōizumigakuen. However, the simplified term is often used to refer to the broader Ōizumi area encompassing Ōizumichō (大泉町), Nishi-Ōizumi (西大泉), Nishi-Ōizumichō (西大泉町), Higashi-Ōizumi (東大泉) and Minami-Ōizumi (南大泉) as well as Ōizumigakuenchō.
Historically, the main industry of the Ōizumi area was agriculture. But after the establishment of Higashi Ōizumi Station (now Ōizumi-gakuen Station) in 1924, it saw a great development as a commercial neighborhood and thereby Ōizumigakuenchō became one of the foremost upscale residential districts in the 23 Special Wards of Tokyo.
