Ļaudona (German: Laudohn) is a historical stronghold on the river Aiviekste, used for trade and military purpose. The castle of Ļaudona is funded by the Bishop of Riga in 1274. Family of Laudohn acquired the estate of Toce (German: Tootzen) from the Archbishop Henning Scharpenberg (1424-1448) in 1432. Famous Austrian Field Marshal Ernst Gideon von Laudon was born here in 1716.
