Čop Street (Slovenian: Čopova ulica) is an important thoroughfare in the center of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The street is lined with many different stores, most of which sell clothes and shoes, cosmetics and foodstuffs. It is pedestrianised, and it's regarded as an important promenade in Ljubljana.

It is named after Matija Čop, a close friend of poet France Prešeren[citation needed]; Prešeren Square, with a centerpiece statue to Slovenia's best-known poet lies at its eastern end. Its name until the late 19th century was Slonova ulica or "Elephant Street", in remembrance of an animal that was present in the upper part of the street in 1550, the first time Ljubljana's people had seen this animal, which was brought by the entourage of Emperor Maximilian II, on his way back from Spain to Germany through Ljubljana. The name was changed to "Prešeren Street" in the late 19th century. In 1945 it was changed to "Čop Street", as part of a large scale re-naming of streets and squares in Ljubljana.
