Øksendal

Øksendal is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway.
It was created by a split from Sunndal in 1854. At that time Øksendal had a population of 1.291. On 1 January 1899 the district of Ålvundeid left Øksendal to form a municipality of its own. The new municipality had a population of 462, leaving Øksendal with 654 inhabitants.
On 1 January 1960 both Øksendal and Ålvundeid were incorporated into Sunndal. Prior to the merger Øksendal had a population of 497.
