Ömer Aşık

Ömer Faruk Aşık (born on 4 July 1986, Turkey) is a professional basketball player of Fenerbahçe who started to 2007-08 season on loan to Alpella and finished his loan contract after Fenerbahçe Ülker's spider center Semih Erden's shock injury. The powerful and athletic center is 2.11 m tall and weared 6 number for Alpella and now 24 for Fenerbahçe Ülker.
He played 10 matches for Alpella on 2007-08 season and played 15,0 pts-pg, 11,3 reb-pg and 1,8 ass-pg. He played against Efes Pilsen S.K. on his last game and have 37 mins, 25 points (ft:8/11, 2p:7/11, 3p:1/1), 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 block.
He made his debut for Fenerbahçe Ülker against Real Madrid Baloncesto on Euroleague match with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists performance. Currently, he is the best shot blocker of Euroleague Top 16 history with the 3.8 average in 5 games.
He is mostly known by his abnormal shot blocking ability. He has set a new Euroleague Top 16 record for blocked shots with 19 and still has another game left with which to add more. Ömer Aşık of Fenerbahçe Ülker got his record-breaking 18th block of the Top 16 in the third quarter of his team's 87-84 loss to Lietuvos Rytas in Vilnius, Lithuania when he went up and stopped Kenan Bajramović's shot late in the third quarter. Aşık added another block later in the game, giving him 19 total, two better than the previous record of 17, which Darjus Lavrinovic set with Zalgiris Kaunas during the 2004-05 Top 16. The only other player to surpass 15 blocks in the round was Robertas Javtokas of Lietuvos Rytas in 2005-06. With 3.8 blocks per game so far in the round, Aşık also owns the highest average yet recorded in the Top 16 too.
