[edit] Need for copyedit

The article says "A Jewish community has existed in this city prior to WWII, which was destroyed in 1944 by Nazi Germany". That is not sense in English. To start at the end 1) What did the Nazis destroy? The thing immediately before "which", that is WWII? I think not. The city? That would be the plainest meaning. A guess is neither of those but that the writer was trying to say the Nazis destroyed the Jewish community. 2) What would be the time span of the Jewish community? Saying "has existed ... prior" is hardly possible with WWII a past event and gives no sense that it no longer exists, "had existed" or "existed" conveys a hint that it no longer does. Again I guess that what was meant was that the Nazis destroyed the Jewish community but the article does not say that. Sympathetic guessing is not a required skill of an encyclopedia's readers.--SilasW 21:28, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
