Étienne de Besançon

Étienne de Besançon (died 22 November 1294 in Lucca) was a French Dominican, who became master of his Order.
He began his studies in 1273. In he graduated as Baccalaureus biblicus. in 1286 In 1288 obtained his Master's degree (Magister) from the Faculty of Theology of the University of Paris.
As provincial of Northern France (1291]) and as Master-General of the Order of Preachers (in 1292) he tried to lead the Dominican order back to the original severity of the order's ideal. He died on the way back from an inspection journey to Rome.
