[edit] Location of the Ågesta plant
Trying to bring some clarity regarding the location of the Ågesta plant:
- The coordinates (59°35"0' N 17°20"0' E) referred to in [1] point to a small village called Ågersta (which is a name is quite close enough to Ågesta which could be a source for confusion for those who created that page) about 60–70 km northwest of Stockholm.
- From a document from Vattenfall: [2], page 3:
Ågestaverket ligger drygt fyra km söder om Farsta centrum i Huddinge kommun.
The Ågesta plant is located a bit over four km south of Farsta centre in Huddinge municipality
- Maps show a place called Ågesta approximately four kilometres south of Farsta: [4]
- And near that there is a location which bears some traits of being the Ågesta plant (map: map hybrid aerial, higher detail)
- The site is fenced off
- The street name in the site is Ågesta
- There is a structure closely resembling a cooling tower (the Vattenfall document refers to a chimney that has now been demolished. I do not know when these aerial pictures have been taken, I don't know if that cooling tower looking structure is the chimney that is referred to).
- The facility seems to be partially underground, which according to the document linked above from Vattenfall describes on page 4:
Reaktordelen, d.v.s. reaktortanken med rörsystem, bränslebytesmaskin, värmeväxlare med pumpar samt avblåsningstankar, är innesluten i ett bergrum med de ungefärliga måtten 60 x 45 x 26 meter. Minsta bergtäckning är 15–20 meter ovanför reaktorhallen. Bergrummets insida är inklädd med ett plåtskal där alla genomföringar av rör och dylikt är tätade. Passage in till bergrumsinneslutningen sker genom lufttäta slussar.
The reactor part, that is, the reactor tank with piping system, fuel changing machine, heat exchange with pumps and outblow tanks, is contained in a bedrock room with the approximate measures of 60 x 45 x 26 meter. The smallest bedrock cover is 15–20 meters above the reactor hall. The bedrock room's inside is clad with a plate shell where all throughroutings of pipes and such are sealed. Passage into the bedrock containment is through airtight locks.
Anyway, based on all this I believe the correct location of the Ågesta plant is TimSE 10:51, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
