Árborg is the biggest municipality in southern Iceland. In 1998 four nearby communities in Southern Iceland voted to merge giving the small city a population of 5,500. The population of Árborg was 7,693 (April 1, 2008). The biggest town in the municipality is Selfoss, with a population of 6300.
