Álvaro Ortiz

Álvaro Ortiz Arellano (born February 19, 1978 in Mexico City) is a Mexican football player who currently plays midfielder for Club Toluca.

Ortiz made his debut in the Primera División with Leon in the Invierno 1998, against Chivas. Ortiz regularly played with Leon the next season, making 17 appearances and scoring 1 goal. Ortiz moved to Chivas for the Invierno 1999 tournament where he only made 4 appearances and played a total of 32 minutes. The following season he saw little success appearing a total of 3 times. In search of more playing time, Ortiz Moved to Necaxa for the Invierno 2000 where he became a starter. Ortiz played 3 season with Necaxa, making 43 appearances and scoring 8 goals. After 3 solid seasons with Necaxa, Ortiz was transferred to Club América. Ortiz struggled during the beginning of the season but he later went on to win a starting position and helped América win their 9th championship against his former team Necaxa. The following season Ortiz was relegated to the bench only making 3 appearances playing a total of 71 minutes. Ortiz returned to Necaxa the following season where he played regularly. Ortiz regained his form and returned to América. Ortiz won his second championship with América during the Clausura 2005. Ortiz was transferred to Club San Luis for the Apertuta 2005 season. For the Apertura 2007, he was transferred to Club Toluca.
