Ákos Takács (born February 14, 1982) is a Hungarian professional football player, who currently is unattached. He has played four times for the Hungarian national team and scored one goal. He is known for his defensive skills, speed and a tremendous shot from the distance.

Takács has one child, Bálint, with his wife Zita.

[edit] Playing career

Takács started his career for Hungarian clubs Goliát FC, BVSC and Vasas SC. In 2002, he moved to multiple Hungarian champions Ferencvárosi TC. His stay in Ferencváros was cut short in 2006, when the club found itself in great financial difficulties. This resulted in a relegation of the club to the Hungarian second division on 25 July 2006. All player contracts were annulled, and Takács was able to move from the club on a free transfer. Takács wanted to continue his career in another club, and after a successful trial in Danish club Vejle Boldklub, he signed a 3-year contract with the club on 15 August 2006.

Ákos arrived in Vejle Boldklub at a very difficult time for the club. After gaining promotion to the Danish Superliga, the club had lost their first five matches with the goalscore 4-15. Ákos' mission was clear; he had to contribute to strengthening the defense after the miserable start. He debuted against Danish champions FC Copenhagen on the right-back, as the fourth player in just six matches to play that position. Even though the club lost the next four matches as well, Ákos had proven to be a success for the team. In his short period of time in Vejle, Ákos managed to gain great respect among the fans. He played eight matches in a row, but suffered an injury in October 2006. After Ove Christensen replaced Kim Poulsen as manager of Vejle Boldklub in April 2007 Ákos has only played two matches for the clubs first team, his last match being the 2-3 defeat against Odense Boldklub on April 9, 2007. On November 12, 2007 Ákos and Vejle Boldklub agreed to cancel their contract.
