Description
English: Two Napier's abacuses, and the box to keep them. Pieces are made of ivory. Box is made of palo santo and walnut wood, brass and ivory. Place of making and authorship are unknown. The group was in Spain at the 2nd quarter of the 17th century. Abacuses' models were designed by Scottish matematician John Napier (1550-1617): the so-called "Napier's bones", and a more complex one, which is a unique exemplary of its characteristics in the world.
Español: Dos ábacos neperianos, junto al estuche para guardarlos. Las piezas son de marfil. El mueble, de maderas de palosanto y nogal, latón y marfil. Se desconocen el lugar de fabricación y la autoría del conjunto, que se hallaba en España en el segundo cuarto del siglo XVII. Los modelos de los ábacos fueron diseñados por el matemático escocés John Napier (1550-1617): el conocido como "Huesos de Napier", y un segundo de mayor complejidad, único ejemplar de sus características en el mundo.
