[edit] Commentary

Jean-Paul Civeyrac, one of the best director of the new Nouvelle Vague. “À travers la forêt” was shot in 12 days in Paris with a very small budget. The first reviews compared this movie with “Le Pont du Nord” by Jacques Rivette. The music of John Cage and Dvorak, Charles Ives underlines the beautiful pictures of the cinematographer Celine Bozon. Each actor is wonderful, from secondary characters like (Valérie Crunchant) to the lead performer, (Camille Berthomier). It is the first time that this actress appears in a movie and she succeeds in a beautiful performance. Camille Berthomier is also the composer of the movie's title song.
