¡Mayday!
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
¡Mayday! is a hip hop group made up of lyricist Bernie Garcia (aka Bernbiz), keyboard player Aaron Eckhart (aka Plex Luthor), bass guitarist Diego Cardenas (aka Primo) and DJ/perccusionist Gio. They are from Miami, Florida.
The band is known for its Miami-underground hit "Quicksand", which earned them a deal with SouthBeat Records, and their first single and music video "Groundhog Day", featuring Cee-Lo Green (directed by Jokes) which received over 2 million views on the online video site YouTube within only a day of being added.
"Groundhog Day" was also known for its new style of marketing. Conducted by record company SouthBeat Records, a number of links on adult websites with which SouthBeat was affiliated led to increased interest overnight and exposure to international listeners.
"Groundhog Day" can be found on the compilation album Urban Express 673Y and on the self-titled first album from Mayday.
