[edit] Template:Airlines of the United States

Hi. I just created Template:Airlines of the United States and wanted to know if you thought it was a good idea and also whether you had any edits you think should be made to it. Lots of other countries have such a template, so I think it's in good form, but I still think it could use some work. I'm also wondering also whether it should be split to continental US and Alaska only airline templates, as Alaska in particular has a lot of little airlines, many of which have no articles to their name. Anyway, let me know what you think, or just edit away. Or if this isn't up your alley, then nevermind. :) Thanks. --Allstar86 07:26, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Looks good to me. I'm just hoping someone will create the missing articles for those small airlines in Alaska which provide scheduled passenger service. If anyone is interested, here's a partial list taken from the Essential Air Service article (also, a few of these are missing from your template):
40-Mile Air - http://www.40-mileair.com
Alsek Air Service - http://www.alsekair.com
Copper River Air Taxi - http://www.copperriverair.com
Ellis Air Taxi - http://www.ellisair.com
Harris Aircraft Services - http://www.harrisaircraft.com
Island Air Service - http://www.kodiakislandair.com
Servant Air - http://www.servantair.com
Taquan Air - http://www.taquanair.com
Warbelow's Air Ventures - http://www.warbelows.com
Ward Air - http://www.wardair.com
If not, I will get around to it... eventually. -- Zyxw 12:02, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of people from Delaware

That page was intentionally deleted because it was turned into the category. It wasn't an AfD and there's no reason you can't recreate it... but, I just wanted to let you know. gren グレン 03:15, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I am adding a navigation box to all the articles titled List in people in <state> and noticed that only Delware and South Dakota did not have such a list. -- 03:19, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Airport frame

I was trying to get the templates out of Category:Airports since they are not really part of the encyclopedia. Vegaswikian 09:29, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

I have removed Category:Airports from {{Airport frame}} and all the other templates associated with airport infoboxes: {{Airport title}}, {{Airport image}}, etc. This category being added is my fault: I originally did it in response to {{Airport infobox}} being tagged as {{uncategorized}}, then left it there when I later added the more appropriate Category:Transportation infobox templates. -- Zyxw 10:23, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox

Thought you might be interested in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Airports/Infobox#Infobox overhaul as I brought up your new Template:Infobox Airport. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 02:18, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for mentioning my proposed new airport infobox template at Wikipedia talk: WikiProject Airports/Infobox #Infobox overhaul. I planned on starting a new topic there to gauge the interest in using it, but got sidetracked with other projects. It was only after your message on my talk page that I realized it has been 11 days since I moved it from my User space to Template: Infobox Airport. Guess it's time I headed over to that WikiProject page and posted a message. Thanks also for the suggested improvements which I'll attempt to add to the template. -- Zyxw 13:48, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
I had seen it some time ago but figured you wanted to work on it some more, so didn't mention it. It was only when it came up in the discussion I that I thought it better discuss it than start a third one. The Template:Infobox Weather is the one that allows for the metric/imperial switch. Cheers. I see that your PNG crusade bot uploaded PNG conversions of these GIF images and updated the associated articles to use the new image:
I have no problem with the old images being deleted since they are now orphaned. - Zyxw 12:04, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vancouver Harbour Water Aerodrome

I needed to get the image, with caption, in at a reasonable siz so I used your new template. I like the way that it does not automatically link the location/serves as it leaves more scope for multiple links. One odd thing I noticed is I can't get the statistics to show up. If you look at Toronto Pearson International Airport you can see what I mean. It would be good to have that available as an optional part of the box as several airports have it tacked on to the bottom. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 09:05, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. That looks great now. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 12:23, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
I see that you noticed my updates to Vancouver Harbour Water Aerodrome and Toronto Pearson International Airport to use the new statistics parameters of the {{Infobox Airport}} template. If you have any other suggestions, I've posted an update and request for comments at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aviation/Airport Infobox. Thanks for all the input you've provided so far. -- Zyxw 07:55, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Navbox generic/doc

Hi Zyxw, I've been trying out your template examples at Template:Navbox_generic/doc and would like some advice/help. My templates are at User:Ctbolt/RAAF4. What I want to do is to have my list within the Navbox left aligned so it is easier to view. In "{{Navbox generic" I couldn't work out how to left align the list however in your examples "{| border=0 class="navbox collapsible"" I could. However, I'm having trouble setting the state to collapsed and the colour to 'lightsteelblue'. Can you help? thanks - Ctbolt 03:42, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

In reply to your question about {{Navbox generic}} and making the list items left-aligned in User:Ctbolt/RAAF4, I looked at your template right after you asked and noticed you figured it out a few minutes later in this edit. There is still one small bit of code remaining from converting the table to a template: on the line that starts with |text-align = left|list1 =, you can remove |text-align = left. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. – Zyxw 17:39, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!

[edit] Infobox Airport

I just thought of another possible addition to the template. Right now you have seperate lines for owner and operator. I wonder if a third line as "Owner/Operator" might be useful. This came about because I just redid the London Gatwick Airport and Edmonton City Centre (Blatchford Field) Airport. The disadvantge is that it might make the line too long. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 03:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

As per your request, I've updated {{Infobox Airport}} to support a new line labeled Owner/Operator. Take a look at London Gatwick Airport to see it in use. If you specify a value for the new owner-oper parameter, the infobox displays that and ignores the current owner and operator parameters. -- Zyxw 02:47, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. It looks fine. Will make life easier for the newer editors who aren't sure what to use. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 17:00, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
