I heard about the Zynot fork in a rather obscure posting at a Gentoo forum. The article on Wikipedia as I found it wasn't really helpful, and the former website of the project doesn't exist any longer, so I was left with browsing through the archived mailing list to get an idea of what happend. As it is, Zynot was, despite all the noise the fork made, never much more than vaporware. My rewrite reduces the article even further than the stud it was, but given that the project is dead and the argument that lead to it is long settled (Gentoo is a full community-driven organisation since ages) that seems to be quite adequate.
