Zwartewaal (51°53′N 4°13′E) is a town in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Brielle, and lies about 5 km south of Maassluis.

In 2001, the town of Zwartewaal had 1666 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.33 km², and contained 670 residences.[1] The statistical area "Zwartewaal", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1960.[2]
