Cranidos (ズガイドス Zugaidosu?, Zugaidos in original Japanese language versions) are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. Cranidos is famous for being one of the Pokémon revealed before the Japanese release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The purpose of Cranidos in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]
The name Cranidos, confirmed in an article by IGN,[3] is derived from the word cranium. Cranidos' Japanese name, Zugaidos, may be a play on the Japanese word for cranium (頭蓋骨 zugaikotsu?).

Biological characteristics
Cranidos is based off of a Pachycephalosaur, one of its characteristics being its iron-hard skull. It lived in dense forests roughly 100 million years ago. Cranidos is bipedal and has a gray body with jagged blue patterns on its skull and torso. Four spikes protrude from its thick skull. Its arms are short and chubby with three claws on each arm.
In the video games
Cranidos is one of many new Pokémon to make its first appearance in the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for the Nintendo DS.
Cranidos is Sinnoh Gym Leader Hyouta's strongest Pokémon.
It has an extremely high Attack stat, higher than many fully evolved physical sweepers. Unfortunately it is very slow.
It is known to learn "Take Down" and a new attack, "Head Smash".[4]
Cranidos is only found in Pokémon Diamond, and it must be revived from a Skull Fossil found in the Underground.
The Mold Breaker ability makes Cranidos' opponent unable to use its ability.
In the anime
Cranidos is seen in "Kurogane Gym! Hyouta VS Shinji!!" It is used by Hyouta against Shinji's Chimchar. After a hard battle it manages to take out Shinji's Chimchar with a Double Headbutt but is defeated by Shinji's Elekid later in the Episode.
Cranidos appears in Episode No. 482, "Zugaidos Pikachu!".
