Zoya Hasan is Professors Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She has authored many books including : Quest for Power', Oppositional Movements and Post-Congress Politics in Uttar Pradesh (OUP, 1998). She has also edited Parties and Party Politics in India (OUP, 2002)and is a co-author of "Unequal Citizens: Muslim Women in India".

She is a scholar of government and politics in India and has a strong interest in political processes, democracy and development, minority politics and the issues of political representation.

Prof. Hasan was recently appointed as a member of India's National Commission for Minorities. She is married to renowned Indian historian and Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University, Prof. Mushirul Hasan.
