Zohar (moshav)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Zohar (זוהר) is a moshav in southern Israel in the Lachish Region, near the town of Qiryat Gat. It is part of the Lachish Regional Council. The moshav was founded in 1956 by Jewish immigrants from Algeria and Tunisia as part of the effort to settle the region. It was established on land that formerly belonged to the Arab village of Fallujah. The name Zohar, which means "splendor", signifies the desire of the inhabitants to be quickly absorbed in what was then a remote frontier region.
