[edit] Huh?

I'm reasonably sure that the Zoat is what is intended by the Zoanthrope in the current Tyranids list. Also, the book "Space Marine," by Ian Watson, seems to confirm that Zoats are a mainstream part of the Tyranid swarm. Anyone else want to comment?--Johno 03:14, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Zoats are pretty different from Zoanthropes. Compare centauroid brutes with floating brains. I've got a copy of first edition 40K somewhere in my house, so I'll try to dig up some references for the page, and trim the conjecture from it all. --Angry Lawyer 16:22, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Uh what about this stuff from the GW Website http://uk.games-workshop.com/tyranids/forgotten-fleets/1/ http://uk.games-workshop.com/tyranids/forgotten-fleets/13/ http://uk.games-workshop.com/tyranids/forgotten-fleets/6/

"Many of the Magos Biologis who claim to be experts in the true nature of the Tyranid threat believe that the Tyranids of Behemoth were not the first to enter our galaxy. They were merely the first to arrive in large numbers. Archaeological evidence indicates there were potential Tyranid contacts long before the 41st millennium.

We can only speculate whether these contacts were from proto-hive fleets, a long-range scouting force, or even creatures fleeing ahead of the oncoming Tyranid fleets.

All we know is that for some time now, we've been in the clutches of the Hive Mind."

"The centaur-like creatures aboard the large nomadic fleets dubbed "Hive Fleet Colossus" bore many similarities to other Tyranid hive fleets, but they had obviously encountered unique environs and thus evolved differently. Chief among these strange traits were their ability to make use of normal Tyranid weapon-symbiotes (although it seems that the process of equipping themselves with these bio-armaments is quite painful), and the unique talent of communicating telepathically with other organisms. Although the Colossi claimed to be slaves escaping some unnamed oppressor, these aliens turned on Imperial forces. Thus began the xenocidal 50-year Zorastra-Attila wars that ended with the destruction of the entire Hive Fleet Colossus."
