ZNS-TV is The Bahamas' public television network, owned and operated by the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas. It is licensed to Nassau, but has a rebroadcast transmitter of the same signal strength (50 kW, also on channel 13) in Freeport.
ZNS-TV's two transmitters are the only TV stations in the Bahamas; the rest of the country gets these channels on cable -- in the Bahamas, cable television is a necessity for TV viewers, especially those farther away from Nassau, Freeport and the Florida peninsula.
The BCB also owns ZNS radio: ZNS-1 AM 1540, ZNS-2 AM 1240, ZNS-1 FM 107.1 and ZNS-2 FM 107.9 in Nassau, and ZNS-3 AM 810 in Freeport.
The weekday tv news is anchored by veteran reporter Opal Roach, sportscaster Chris Saunders/Marcellus Hall, and weatherman Basil Dean. The weekend tv package is anchored by Shenique Miller and sportscaster Julian Gibson.
There are three main radio broadcasts during the weekday. There are various anchors who anchor those newscasts. The morning sports and 1pm sportscasts is usually anchored by Jonathan Benson and the sportscast in the afternoon is usually anchored by Marcellus Hall. Veteran sports personality Phil Smith is the Director of Sports.
