Zhangsun Wuji

Chángsūn Wújì 長孫無忌 (d. 659) was a Chinese politician of Xianbei ancestry born in Luoyang.

Changsun Wuji was well educated in Chinese history and literature. In 617, he joined the army of Li Yuan in revolt against the Sui Dynasty. He was known as one of the founders of Tang Dynasty. In 626, he joined the coup d'état against Li Jiancheng and was the one who killed Li Yuanji. In 637, he wrote the Jingguan Law, along with Fang Xuanling. After Emperor Gaozong became emperor, in 651, he helped to explained the Jingguan Law to the scholars. In 658, he opposed the decision of the emperor to make Wu Zetian empress, and he was dismissed by another official, Xu Jingzong. He committed suicide in 659.
