Zhang Yuan (Traditional: 張元; Simplified: 张元; pinyin: Zhāng Yuán) (born 1963, Nanjing, China) is a Chinese film director. Zhang received a BA in Cinematography from the Beijing Film Academy in 1989.

He is a member of China's Sixth Generation of film directors.
