Zhang Dan (Simplified Chinese: 张丹; Traditional Chinese: 張丹; pinyin: Zhāng Dān; born October 4, 1985 in Harbin, China) is a Chinese figure skater.
She won the bronze medal in pairs at the 2005 World Figure Skating Championships with partner Zhang Hao. She and her partner (who are unrelated) have twice won the World Junior title.
At the 2006 Winter Olympics, they won a silver medal despite a bad fall for her in which she injured her knee, after which she decided to continue the program despite being in continued pain. A doctor in the Chinese delegation later confirmed the injury to Zhang as a ligament strain in her left knee. The pair were attempting a throw quadruple salchow, when Zhang Dan fell and crashed into the sideboards. With Zhang Hao's help, they managed to make it to their coach. When asked, Zhang Dan said she wanted to carry on and the event referee gave the 'go-ahead'. The pair then went on astonishingly to win the silver medal. The pair started off strong in the next season by winning the gold medal at Skate Canada, the silver at NHK Trophy, and qualifying for the Grand Prix Final.
Zhang and Zhang are coached by Yao Bin.
