Zeus courting Ganymede is a kylix in black, decorated in red. It features lovers Zeus and Ganymede. As Ganymede attempts to pick up the scepter dropped by Zeus they look into each others eyes. A cock, the Hellanistic symbol of love, is seen crowing.
This piece was made in 450 BCE by the Penthesileia painter. It may currently be found in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in the city of Ferrara, Italy.
