[edit] Eritrea page
It has been noted that you are cutting out signficant portions of the Eritrea article. We encourage your input and hope you will discuss any further changes through the talk page. You seem to be removing a great deal of referenced material and suggest that you discuss so that we do not encounter a rv war. Also your edits are creating structural problems and we hope you will figure out what is going wrong so you can fix this. Thank you again for your interest. --Merhawie 18:55, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- I have not removed any referenced material this time (the Damot stuff which if I can recall even you commented on how it is superfluous). On the other hand you did remove referenced material when you removed the "prehistory" part of Eritrea. So I ask for a little balance. Reading the previous Eritrea page, especially the history part, it read something like :Eritrea in relation to Ethiopia, and Ethiopia too and especially Ethiopia and including Ethiopia...This is obviously because the chief contributor to the Eritrea page is an Ethiopian and as such has a political interest to over-emphasize Eritrea's historical
- "Ethiopianness" and downplay the existence of any pre-colonial separate identity that contradicts the concept of any sort of an "Ethiopian" Empire. It is not a NPOV and as an Eritrean I find it the most distasteful form of weaseldom. It would be in the interest of Eritreans as well as those interested in Eritrea to be able to unpeel the labels "Eritrea" (and "Ethiopia" if you must) to understand what lies at the bottom of it all. I do not feel emphasizing Ethiopia to the extent as was done so far is constructive. It should be noted that most of the material in the history section (written by Yom and other Ethiopian conributors) article is not referenced material. Referenced material also does not always spell relevance.

- The Ethiopian you are referring to is named Yom. I agree with you and I had complained about it before. His argument for removal was that it was too specific so if you want to add it state your argument on the Eritrea talk page. If he does not argue then you should definately go ahead and replace it. Also the bit was removed I did a bit more research and place the combination on the History of Eritrea page. I am glad to hear that finally another Eritrean is taking up the fight here on Wikipedia against Ethiopianists. Because of this I encourage you to join the Eritrean Wikiproject! I hope to see you there! --Merhawie 20:30, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Eritrea, History Section
First I would like to say I am glad that there is finally another eritraen voice on Wikipedia. Secondly I would like to recommend that you check out the India page as I think we should cut down the history section on the Eritrea page to about that long. Let me know whawt you think! --Merhawie 12:43, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- thanx I agree there need to be more of us contributing to the representation of our country, rather than have an ethiopian weasle nonsense everywhere. I mean it's amazing how Ethiopian history as a whole and the Ethiopian related pages are like a textbook example of weaseldom, peacocks and other wiki-do nots. That's fine for them, but when it begins to carry over to matters that pertain to other countries, it becomes too ugly...I checked out the india page, it's cute and I agree the first page should be narrowed down to a few paragraphs of history and move the rest to 'History of Eritrea page'.
