I wanted to make note that apartheid has a meaning, "Apartheid, which means 'apartness' or 'separateness' in Afrikaans or Dutch" It is used because it is the same meaning. I agree that it might not be the best term, Segregationist has the same meaning as apartheid, only not the same emotions behind it. Certainly, the situation in Palestine is more like South Africa than the 1950's America. But there is no reason it shouldn't be used.
