Zemus' Guide to Raise Self Confidence
Feeling terrible about the way you look? Always shunned? Why not show yourself and others that you can change, and that you are better than you think? Whining never got anyone anywhere, and only those who have done something have been able to overcome their problems. No one is truly ugly. The only one that can make you ugly is you. If you don't like the way you look, you should do something about it, as addressed earlier.
There are two things to do if you want to change the way you feel and/or look. First, you must do something about your self confidence. Trying to do something about your appearance is useless unless you feel confident about yourself now, and trust your decisions. At least once a day (best if done more than once a day) tell yourself that you are beautiful/gorgeous/handsome/etc. (take your pick of POSITIVE adjectives), and quit thinking to yourself that you are ugly. If people are set out to make you feel horrible and call you ugly, just ignore them. They have no power unless you begin to believe it too. Without your belief, nothing happens. Why are you hanging around people that make you feel horrible anyway?? See if you can get yourself in a different environment to make this process easier.
The second thing to start with is to make a list of all of the traits that you don't like about yourself as well as solutions. Hair color not the right color? Write it down, and maybe the solution would be to color and/or get it cut by a stylist. You can ask your stylist for suggestions when getting your hair cut, honestly. (I've done it a bit myself) Feel like you're overweight? Write it down, and plan to change your diet and/or exercise patterns, after you've verified that it's okay to loose a few pounds. (some people are SO paranoid about their weight when they're really a few pounds underweight, or just the right weight...)
After you've made your list and you're continuing to tell yourself that you are wonderful, it's time to start the action. =) Look at your list and find some of the things that are easiest to do, or would take longest to fix. Start seeking out ways to get them done that are realistic and feasible. While you're doing this, if you still aren't satisfied, start observing people, at your school or work place. What traits of theirs are ones that you like, wish you could have? Keep track of the realistic ones. Girls, do they wear makeup? Pay attention to the level and type of makeup, and what you like and don't like about it. Guys, do you like the types of clothes they wear or how they carry themselves? Pay attention to specifics that you like and don't like. They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery, but also keep in mind that you're only taking small traits, and should stay yourself as well.
After keeping track of your results for a few weeks, look and see what's doing well for you, and what's not doing so good. Make adjustments as the need arises, always keeping in mind your final goal. When you finally reach it, or a good milestone, it's time for a party! Don't give up!
