Zelda Van Gutters is a fictional dog who serves as the mascot of Nickelodeon Magazine. She was originally listed on the masthead as the magazine's Office Manager, and was later "promoted" to "Roving Reporter", in which her job is to "sniff out good stories". She appears throughout the magazine with comments in speech balloons, and has her own photocomic called Ruffing It. She is a Lakeland Terrier. According to her owner, one of the magazine's staff members, her parents' names are Tanner and Tanya. Zelda was born in Oklahoma on January 1, which is celebrated all over the world as the holiday "New Year's Day".
